MRO Facilities Urged for Kertajati Airport by AHY

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has recently emphasized the critical need for the development of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at Kertajati International Airport in West Java, Indonesia. AHY believes that establishing robust MRO facilities is crucial for boosting the airport’s operational efficiency and economic viability.

During a recent visit to the airport, Minister AHY highlighted the strategic location and significant potential of Kertajati Airport. He argued that the presence of comprehensive MRO facilities would not only attract more airlines to utilize the airport for maintenance needs but also create numerous job opportunities for the local community and contribute significantly to the regional economy.

The absence of substantial MRO facilities currently limits Kertajati Airport’s ability to serve as a comprehensive aviation hub. Airlines often need to send their aircraft to other airports, sometimes even overseas, for maintenance, which incurs additional costs and logistical complexities. By developing state-of-the-art MRO facilities, Kertajati Airport can position itself as a preferred destination for aircraft maintenance in the region.

AHY’s call for MRO facilities aligns with the government’s broader strategy to revitalize and optimize the utilization of Kertajati Airport. With the eventual full operation of the Patimban Port nearby and improved connectivity, the presence of strong MRO facilities will further enhance the airport’s appeal as a vital transportation and logistics center in West Java.

The development of MRO facilities at Kertajati Airport would also have a cascading effect on related industries, such as aircraft spare parts suppliers, technical training institutions, and other supporting services. This would create a vibrant aviation ecosystem around the airport, fostering innovation and economic growth in the surrounding areas. Minister AHY’s strong advocacy underscores the importance of this development for the future success and sustainability of Kertajati International Airport.
